Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE SYLVIA MORIARTY (nee ROWLAND) It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lorraine after a brief illness. She did not truly leave us on September 15 for she lives on in the hearts of her loved ones. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her passing are her children, Cameron and Kim of Vancouver and Trevor of Oyama; sisters, Lucille (Ed) Butterfield of Winnipeg and Marlene Stephens of Toronto; Lucilles daughters, Cathy Carpenter and Linda Warms and their children of Winnipeg, Marlenes daughters, Andrea (Adam) Rosenfeld and son of Toronto and Tara Stephens (Kevin) of Guelph. She will also be greatly missed by special friends Wendy Moriarty and Linda James. She was born May 10, 1929 to Ruth and Cyril Rowland in Winnipeg. Her Dad was of Welsh origin and her Mom was born in Norway. She grew up in the West end of Winnipeg and attended Principal Sparling and General Wolfe schools. While in school Lorraine excelled at sports especially speedskating and baseball. She also enjoyed skiing. She was employed at Eatons mail order after leaving school. Lorraine was always popular, but it was a special Irishman, Charles Daniel Moriarty (Danny) who won her heart. Dannys career took them to Regina, Montreal and Oakville, ON where Danny passed away in November 1972. She subsequently returned to Winnipeg in 1973 and moved to Vancouver in the mid 80s following her children. In 1994 she and Trevor moved to Winfield in the Okanagan and later to Oyama. The beautiful scenery around Oyama inspired her to pursue her special talent of oil painting. She also produced many beautiful graphic art landscapes. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Danny in 1972; mother Ruth in 1971; father Cyril in 1991; brother-in-law Paul Stephens in 1992 and in-laws, Marie and Cam MacLean, Bernice (Bunky) Chambers. Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering was held at the lookout on beautiful Kalamalka Lake overlooking her home.
